Shake That Thing

Sep 2019

A dazzling celebration of dance, music and song from the Roaring ‘20s and Fabulous ’30s including the Charleston, the Lindy-Hop, the Black Bottom and much more.

The orchestra and dancers also pay tribute to the incomparable Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in numbers such as the timeless ‘Cheek To Cheek’.

The Swing Time Jivers are the UK’s finest authentic jazz dance company, specialising in the original form of jive dancing that developed in New York’s Harlem in the late1920s. Their  personnel are drawn from the very best UK dance talent with its members (originally from the Jiving Lindy Hoppers) having performed at such events as at “Proms in the Park” concert in London’s Hyde Park, New York’s prestigious Lincoln Center’s “Out of Doors Festival” and alongside the Boston Pops Orchestra at the Boston Symphony Hall.

In the words of Grammy-award winning Vince Giordano... ‘Tony Jacobs and his Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra is one of our top vintage groups we have today!’

Together with the delightful voice and personality of Catherine Sykes, and the cream of British jazz and big band musicians, the Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra offers superb musical entertainment of world-class standard.

So, put the Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra together with the Swing Time Jivers – and there you have the perfect combination – a sure-fire hit show!

‘Music from the ’20s and ’30s performed at its best. I loved it!’ – John Suchet, Classic FM
